What Judah Beam is
Judah Beam moves text, links, pictures, files and folders between your own phones and computers, and lets you send them to other people by their mobile number.
What we keep
- Your account: your mobile number, your name, your username and your password (stored only as a one-way scrambled form). A backup email, if you add one.
- What you put in: the text, links, pictures, files, folders and chat messages you send, so they can reach your other devices and the people you send them to.
- Your devices: the name of each phone or computer you sign in on, so you can see and remove them.
- People you send to: the name and mobile number of each person you send something to, and whether they opened it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- Your phone book is read on your phone only when you tap Phone book, and nothing from it leaves your phone except the one person you choose to send to.
- Nothing goes to anyone but your own devices unless you pick a person to send it to.
Who helps us run it
- Supabase holds the accounts and the list of items. PowerSync keeps your devices in step.
- Judah Software's own file servers hold pictures and files.
- Vonage sends the text messages: sign-in codes, and the link to someone who doesn't have the app yet.
- Cloudflare serves this website and the page where someone without the app sees what you sent.
Everything travels encrypted between your device and our servers. Our servers can read what you put in, which is what makes search, the computer pop-up and the web page work.
Someone without the app
When you send to a number that isn't on Judah Beam, that person gets a text with a link. To see it they enter a code we text to that number; their browser then stays signed in for 30 days. We keep their number so their copy reaches them.
How long things are kept
- Your own items stay until you delete them.
- Secrets delete themselves after 1 hour.
- Things you send to a person stop showing for them when the time you chose runs out (7 days unless you pick otherwise).
- Deleting your account removes the account, every item and every file.
